Dieser wochenlang anhaltende graue Himmel und das wenige Licht bedrückt mich etwas und so suche ich mir gezielt leuchtende  Farben. Etwas ungewöhnlich für mich aber ich mag solche Ausflüge. Weil mir das leuchtende Koralle gut gefällt habe ich mir Wolle aus kräftigem Orange und einem unmöglichen Barbierosa gemischt. Seit Jahren liegt diese besagte rosa Wolle hier und ich betrachte sie immer etwas ratlos und frage mich warum ich mich zu dieser Farbe habe hinreißen lassen. Jetzt ist es gut dass sie im Bestand ist denn sie habe ich benötigt um die gewollte Farbmischung zu erzielen. Leider finde ich die selber kardierte Wolle in der Verarbeitung nicht sehr komfortabel. Sie „bricht“ doch sehr in der Länge auseinander und hat im Vlies nicht die Spannung die professionell gekämmte Vliese mitbringen. Gerade für die Auslegetechnik die ich für Filzschuhe vorziehe ist es von Vorteil wenn sich das Wollvlies leicht um die Schablone ziehen lässt. Die „Fuckelei“ hat sich  gelohnt. Das gefilzte Ergebnis ist wie von mir gewünscht. Nach vielen Monaten in denen ich mir tagsüber die Filzhausschuhe meines Mannes  ausleihte weil meine schon lange entsorgt wurden, bekomme ich nun endlich  wieder eigene. Am Wochenende wird es nämlich eng wenn auch er Zuhause ist. Dann geht der eine zum anderern und wir tauschen Schuhe wenn einer kalte Füße hat. Wer an der Quelle sitzt…

I feel somewhat downcast because of the grey sky and lack of light we´ve had for weeks, and so I purposefully search for glowing colours. A bit unusual for me but I like these outings. I mixed wool out of a vivid orange and an impossible Barbie pink colour because I like a glowing coral. The said pink had been lying around for years and I have always regarded it rather bemused and asked myself why I ever allowed myself to get so carried away and choose this colour. Now it is good that it is a part of my stock because I needed it to obtain the colour blend I wanted. Unfortunately, I find that self-carded wool is not very managable. It „breaks apart“ quite a bit in length and as a fleece doesn´t have the pliability that professionally carded wool does. For the technique of rolling out the wool that I prefer when making felt slippers it is of advantage if the fleece can be easily pulled around the template. The „fumble work“ was worth it. The felted result is what I wanted. After many months of having borrowed my husband´s felt slippers because mine have long been discarded, I now have my own again. On the weekends when he is at home things get tight. Then one of us goes to the other and we trade the shoes to whoever of us has cold feet. Whoever sits at the source….
